Today, the main crisis many people face is not just unemployment. There is a deeper structural shift underneath.
People can no longer easily find a place in the fields they have worked in and built experience in for years. Expertise is no longer easily transferable. The issue is not only that markets are shrinking. The real issue is that value has shifted.
While we were working, specializing, and building our careers within organizations, the meaning of the value chain changed silently. The question is no longer only what you know, but where what you know fits within the new value architecture.
The questions that matter now
Where is my value created today? Within which structure does my experience become meaningful? And how can this value be measured?
Experience does not disappear. But when value shifts, experience can become invisible if it cannot be translated into the new language of value creation.
Work is not disappearing, but employment and employability are becoming unbalanced. Value is moving.
Where Are You in the Value Chain? And Why Does It Matter?
For many people today, the deeper crisis is not simply unemployment. It is that experience accumulated over years no longer transfers automatically into new structures.
The issue is not only that markets have tightened. Value itself has moved.
While we were working, specialising and progressing within organisations, the meaning of the value chain quietly changed. Knowledge, experience and position once had a more direct correspondence with organisational value. Today, they are not enough on their own. What matters is where that knowledge now sits within a new architecture of value.
The more useful questions may therefore be: Where is my added value created today? In what kind of structure does it become meaningful? And how can it be measured?
Experience does not disappear. But it can become invisible when it is not translated into the language of where value is now being created.
This creates a particularly important responsibility for organisations and HR: not merely to digitise and measure recruitment, but to understand experience in relation to a changing value chain and position it accordingly.
