Preventive Healthcare Is Not About Information. It Is About Behavior.

Original publication: source

Preventive healthcare is not about information. It is about behavior.

We already know what to do: eat better, move more, manage stress. Yet most people do not change. Because knowledge does not create action. Systems do.

The next wave of MedTech will not be about better devices alone. It will be about combining advanced technologies with systems that support decisions and behavior — not simply telling people what is right, but helping them act within a holistic system that still leaves the choice to them.

We are surrounded by data, but we are still struggling with decisions. The real challenge is not information. It is designing systems that convert knowledge into action.

The problem is not what we know. It is why what we know so rarely turns into what we do.

So the real question is: are we building health platforms, or behavior platforms? Who owns the decision moment — the system or the individual? Can a platform truly change behavior, or can it only support it? And where is value actually created: in data, or in action?

English and Turkish are presented as companion editorial versions. The argument and authorship remain Damla Sanberk’s.

Knowledge alone does not create action. Systems can help create the conditions for it.

The next wave of MedTech will not be about better devices alone. It will be about combining advanced technologies with systems that support decisions and behavior—not simply telling people what is right, but helping them act within a holistic system that still leaves the choice to them.

We are surrounded by data, yet we continue to struggle with decisions. The real challenge, then, is not information. It is designing systems that can turn knowledge into action.

The question is whether we are building health platforms or behavior platforms—and, more importantly, where the decision ultimately belongs: to the system or to the individual.
